Lifeline Connections is Hiring a Cook Near Vancouver, WA

$18.50 - $20.00 USD Hourly

MAJOR DUTIES: The Cook works under the supervision of the Food Services supervisor. This position has the primary responsibility to prepare and serve meals to clients and staff. This position is also responsible to help maintain the overall cleanliness of the kitchen. In fulfilling these duties, the incumbent performs the following duties independently:

  1. Prepare and serve meals including stocking snacks;
  2. Deliver meals and stock supplies primarily at the Crisis Wellness Center;
  3. Daily cleanup of the kitchen and service areas including stove top, oven, refrigerators and freezer, mixer, slicer, floor, dish washing, pots and pans, garbage and recyclables;
  4. Perform deep cleaning at regularly scheduled intervals as designated by the department manager;
  5. Oversee food inventory by monitoring proper food temperature, rotating and storing food properly;
  6. Request additional supplies as necessary and help check in orders upon arrival;
  7. Cross train in all kitchen environments of Lifeline Connections
  8. Maintain good health habits (washing hands often, etc.);
  9. Open and/or lock up according to outlined procedures; and
  10. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  1. High school diploma or equivalent;
  2. 2-3 years experience in the food services industry preferred; preferably in an institutional or healthcare environment;
  3. Unencumbered Driver’s License, with the ability to become an approved driver for the agency; 
  4. Current Food Handlers Card;
  5. Good verbal and written communication skills;
  6. Great attendance;
  7. Ability to work well with others.

GUIDELINES

Requires that the incumbent relies on specialized training and/or equivalent experience and performs duties in accordance with Washington Administrative Codes, Federal regulations governing the confidentiality of patient, and Lifeline Connections Policy and Procedure Manual.

PERSONAL CONTACTS

Contacts are with the members of the treatment team, clients, and significant others of the clients. All personal contacts are carried out in accordance with federal and state laws dealing with the confidentiality of patient records.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, speak clearly, hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate kitchen utensils. Additionally, the employee is often required to walk, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or lift and/or move a maximum of 50 lbs. The employee may occasionally be required to sit and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Working hours are spent indoors in a commercial kitchen environment or other meeting rooms. Participation in staff meetings and staff development activities will be required.
